A few updates and notifications...

First off...Sorry for my woefully late post regarding the blog contest. I actually notified the winner privately last week. StaticWhite was the winner.

Secondly...I am not doing a giveaway for Christmas. I am pretty swamped now. But I have decided to do a black Friday Sale. I know many of you are tight on cash, so I thought I would make it fun. At 12:01am (just past midnight) all my items in my shop will be discounted 30% off. The only exclusion will be anything made to order. It will state in the body of the description if it is made to order. Usually at the bottom near the "Measurements". The sale will go through 6am. At 6:01 it will be 20% off until 9am, and then 10% off for the remainder of the weekend. I am adding new pieces and fluffing my stock to get ready for the sale. I will not increase any of my prices. They will stay as they are, and be discounted from there. So make sure you add what you want to your cart now. So that you can checkout quickly. I have never had a 30% off sale before. Sooo get your trigger finger ready.

Here is the time line again (all CST):
Black Friday - 12:01 am to 6:00am 30% off (prices will reflect the discounted)
Black Friday - 6:01am to 9:00am 20% off (prices will reflect the discounted)
Friday 9:01am to Sunday 8pm 10% off (prices will reflect the discounted)

There is this great tool on Craftopolis, it enables you to change your prices for sales. So all sales will use this tool going forward. No more refunds or waiting for a combined invoice. How nice! This makes shopping and seller a whole lot easier. If you are not currently using Craftopolis, why not?

Last but certainly not least...

Also I have been hard at work designing my calendars. I have two different version almost completed. One features my skull and darker items. The other is chalked full of sparkle. They are 12 month calendars. Actually they were 16 month, but I haven't had time to finish them before now. If they are well received, I will offer them again next year. Its a great way to have tons of BellaLili without being a hoarder! ;)

September 2010 Giveaway - Literary Sword

This month is a little different for giveaways. I am teaming up with Jessica from Booksake. She is doing a blogathon and offering up over $150 worth of prizes. One of the prizes up for grabs is a Literary Sword. Each and everyone is different. So it a surprise what you will receive.

Hello all,

My name is Autumn and I am the one woman show behind Bella Lili. I have a blond Mohawk (this week, it changes often), green eyes and a slight temper. I always have my head in the clouds. I tend to shy away from the norm or do things that others expect. I am a self-proclaimed sci-fi/fantasy dork. I love books and mythology. I immerse myself within world that my favorite authors have created.

My creations come from my mind's eye while I am within those novels.

Most times I feel my creations make themselves and I am just the hands that help them along.

Well that's it for my random bit of info about me. I feel as if I know all of you, so it's only fair to introduce myself formally.

Great Graphic Designer

I am a blogging fool today. Allow me to introduce you to a wonderful Lady I recently met on Etsy. She is Sarah from OhmeOhmydesign on Etsy.

I normally design all my graphics myself since I am so picky but, I just can't seem to create a banner that I love. So I started searching through the 128 pages of Etsy Shop Banners and found one that stood out from the crowd. It wasn't pink and it wasn't cute. Which is monumental for Etsy, the home of cute fluffy pink stuff. I am the rebellious seller who makes edgier stuff. So cutie cutesy banner's do not work for me.

So anyways, I was thrilled with how quick I received my banner and with how great the communication was with Sarah. I have bought so many things off Etsy and NEVER heard a peep from the seller. I avoid those shops, and am not a repeat customer, if they do that. Because if they care that little about me, then they do not need my money. It's poor customer service.

If you know me and you follow my shop regularly, you know I rarely offer sales or discounts. But I haven't had one in a little while and I am going out of town tomorrow for a short weekend trip. I will have very limited internet access. Because of this, I won't be creating and listing like mad. So why not have a sale and make some room in my shop for new goodies?!?!

Sooooo, starting tonight at midnight thru Sunday at midnight CST, you will receive 10% off your entire order. It's automatic, there is no need for a code. I will refund the $ via paypal when I return on Sunday. I can't do revised invoices because I won't have easy access to the internet. Austin Fashion Week 2010

As some of you may or may not know, I have been a machine working my behind off. I have a lot of things going on at the moment. My older sister is getting married next month. She asked me to design her jewelry for the wedding party. It will be a limited edition just for her wedding, and will not be recreated. But alas as with all my custom orders, it's proving to be elusive. I have some ideas and will post the final product up for everyone. In case you are curious.

I was also invited by Matt Swinney (Founder of Launch 787) from Austin Fashion Week to participate in this year's event. I was VERY flattered to say the least.

Today was the day for submission of logo's, and 5 pictures that best represented my work. Since we all know I have a Jekyll and Hyde style, I choose a few of my more recent pieces that I am most proud of.

BUT!!!! Now I have to decide what to make for the "sample" submission. Thoughts? Suggestions? Comments?

Every once in a awhile one piece really strikes a chord within me. So when I make something that is so fan-freaking-tastic that I have to share. So Having a BackPiece Tattoo Makes me a Home-Wrecker?

I like that fact that someone is bring light on this ~~issue~~,topic. But I think that some of the good folks debating it (see the comments below the blog post on Haute Macabre) are loosing the point of the debate to begin with. It started off as people making assumptions based on your physical appearance. Namely that if you have tattooes you have loose morals.

While I agree with some physical attributes giving visual clues on the type of person you are. For example, if you look like you are hooker, you probably are a hooker. But when did being heavily tattooed, automatically mean you had loose morals? Or that you were a home wrecker? Last time I checked that wasn't something that could be easily seen in your physical appearance. Maybe I am just missing something. Next time I see another heavily tattooed person (other than when I look in the mirror), I will see if I can find the "loose moral's" tattoo. Like "Where's Waldo". Maybe its the ass antlers the Soccer Mom's usually get when they experimented with their bi-sexual roommate in college, even though they both had boyfriends. Oops was that an assumption? Sucks doesn't it. :::sigh::: I feel so narrow-minded and ready to join the mob to persecute people just because they are different. YAY for me! {runs away brandishing a pitchfork and torch}

This is just my opinion. I think we should live and let live. My choices and my life are my own. I would never force them upon others. I merely am who I am. I respect and accept differences. I think they make life interesting. Everyday is full of immeasurable choices. What choices people make are fascinating to me. I love asking why.

The Back Story of Why I Use Skulls...

I am sure that you can tell from my Shop and my Sold items that I have affinity towards Skulls. What you may not know is why...

About 11 years ago I suffered from a bacterial Lung Disease. My now 11 yr old took her first steps while I was in Intensive Care. I will spare you the gory details, but that experience left with with an appreciation for life that I might have otherwise lacked.

While I was recovering, I received some "Mr. Yuck Face" stickers in the mail. I am not sure why I got them but I did. So I decided put them on all my cleaning supplies and came across an ancient bottle of Rat Poison. It had a Skull and Crossbones on it. For some odd reason at that time, it really struck home that I almost died.

Perhaps it was seeing the universal symbol for danger or death. I can only assume that I just didn't think about how sick I really was. I too focused on recovering to waste energy on anything else. After the dust settled, so to speak, I was shocked at how close to death I had really come. So for me, the Skull and Crossbones will forever be burned into my mind as a reminder of what could have been.

So I wear them and make them as a reminder that I am lucky to be alive. Even when things are difficult. At least I have voice to complain with. I almost didn't.

Skull Purse Giveaway - BellaLili

January's giveaway will be a little different. I am going to be giving away a Skull Purse that I have altered. Click on either the pic or "Skull Purse" for more detailed views.

The purse is a Faux Leather Black Slouch Tote Purse with drawstrings. I have soldered a skull to a beautiful filigree round and then hand sewed the decoration onto one side of the bag. I have also added a handmade fluer de lis key chain with rhinestone accents. The bag measures 18" long by 12" tall (excluding the handles) by 6" wide . The handles have a 12" opening (will fit over most shoulders comfortably). This is a one of a kind (OOAK) piece that will not be offered for sale in my shop. The only way to get it, is to win it here.

I will unlock a 2nd $40 gift certificate announced once I have 91 entrants. I will continue to unlock gift certificates for ever 30 entrants there after. New Flight Collection and Resurection of some Fav's

So after my break neck pace of the 4th quarter of 2009 I have finally had a little bit of a break to create a new collection and to bring back some favorites that always sell out.

My newest collection is my Flight Collection. If you have visited my shop you can see my infinity for wings and skulls. I am always pushing myself to stay ahead of the game and keep coming up with new edgy things. I really like thought provoking jewelry that is still elegant and beautiful. Who says that distressed jewelry has to look like Men's jewelry or that it was put together from scrap metal by a kindergartner. I am pretty vocal and snobby about my choice of supplies. I always stand behind my work and do repairs when needed. With thousands of sales and less than a handful of repairs, I must be doing something right.

Psst! Guess what?!?! I am so excited to announce that I will be offering some of jewelry in solid fine silver (99.9% pure silver) very soon.

As you may or may not know, I limit my pieces to 6 just to help prevent copycats. Copying seems to happen anyway, but by the time they have copied me. I have moved on and am creating even more badass things.

BUT I have a few designs that are near and dear to my heart. Like my Barrister, Purgatory, Absinthe and Fair ytale. I am going to cast those original designs and offer them in solid fine silver. They will be offered in my new shop which you will start to see items up for sale in January sometime.

I will still be offering new and interesting plated designs in my Bella Lili shop, that will never go away. But I soon be offering a higher end version of my original designs. And rings! My River ring and tattered and torn, among many other new designs will be offered in any size. It will be a beautiful thing.

Now if I could only learn some patience for my supplies to arrive so I can get started!

Funny Story for Tuesday

So I had to share. I am the world's worst Gardner. Some would even go so far to say that I have a bio hazard black thumb and cause plants to shrivel up and die just being near them. But I still persevere and buy succulents or cactus on occasion and try to keep them alive. 3 months is the longest I have every successfully kept a cactus alive.

My latest endeavor is a "String of Bananas". I bought it as a fully matured plant and gorgeous! It stayed that way for a whole month. Then some of the "strings" turned brown and dried up. So I put it outside for fresh air and to get away from me. So the WHOLE thing turned brown. Mostly due to the fact that I didnt water it over 10 days. Hey its in the cactus family! I thought they could withstand droughts!?! Even man made ones!

So I brought it back inside and after a few weeks of 1 to 2 times a week watering it was doing great. Then my cat laid on it. Yes the whole thing. He just plopped down and smushed it. All the lovely bananas were crushed!

My two little girls heard me yell "Midnight! What did you do! Bad CAT!" So they yelled from the couch. Because REALLY they couldn't be bothered to move. It was too much effort.

My youngest one asks at dinner, "Mommy why did you yet Midnight?" I said "Because he killed my plant Honey." So without missing a beat she walks over to my fake ficus looks at it VERY intently and says "Oh ya! Mommy it looks horrible! And its DEAD!" I tried to keep a straight face when I told her "Sweetie, that's a fake plant and it was never alive." She responds "Is that why its the only one that is still green?"

Yep, even a 5 yr knows that Mommy sucks as growing things. How sad is that. But still funny. I still remember her walking over and looking the fake tree up and down. She was really trying to find the damage. I guess I should buy nicer fake plants.

I love doing trades with other Etsy artists. Sometimes the Barter system really works out well for both parties. In this instance a very sweet lady, Tara from TaraLinnea contacted me for a trade. She had her eye on "Angel's Tear" (as seen above). So I checked out her whimsical fairy shop. She has such fun and light hearted items! I picked out a fairy door. Which is now tucked behind a bookshelf in my living room. It peeks out and is something you notice and say "Hey! Is that a tiny door?" its so adorable and cute. Perfect for anyone who loves all things fanciful, especially fairies. Like me!

New Toile Tote - in my Etsy Shop

A little known tid bit about me is that I actually know how to sew. I know odd. lol But I really dislike it. Well actually I usually HATE it. Mainly due to the fact that I hate using patterns. But to make my own clothes without a pattern requires a dress form. Since I do not have one, I just avoid the whole thing.

Until my beloved Betsy Johnson Purse went to the ghost (the straps lasted only 3 short months before ripping.)

So I went shopping on Etsy.com I absolutely adore being able to find anything and everything on there. For the most part, everyone is very nice to work with. I replaced my Betseyville bag with an Alexander Henry print handmade tote. Unfortunately it looked a little too "homemade" when I received it. Too quilted looking and it just didn't stand up to my abuse.

I throw bubble mailers in my purse/tote, I use it for shopping. I love just having a bag that I can throw everything in, tote (no pun intended!) around and sort through when I get home. But alas, the bag I purchased took about a month to arrive and I was very disappointed. I immediately started looking for its replacement.

So here is my purchased bag that I spent $40 on that sits neglected in my my closet. There is a hot pink cheap quilting type looking fabric in the inside, and a wide black band at the bottom of the bag. Did I mention it has fluffy batting on and looks like a walmart craft project?

Sigh...so of course I decided, if you want anything done right, then you must do it yourself. So I went to the fabric store, spent WAY too much money and have decided to make some unusual Toile totes. I will make them in 3 different colors and keep one for myself, then sell the rest.

Here is my tote:

Abigail: $26 (she has some minor imperfections because she was my first) ;)

The main fabric is apple green and chocolate brown. The accent fabric is a matching brown linen fabric with matching handles.

The side seams have hand sewn hydrangeas with crystal beading. The flowers are offset so that you do not crush them when your arm is down. As well as they are still visible when you walking towards or away from someone.

There are a few rhinestone scattered around the flowers. The seam between the toile and the brown fabric is adorned with cream lace. I have interwoven coordinating brown velvet ribbon into the lace. Then hand sewed it down to hide the stitching.

The inside has some cotton fabric with french script lettering and flowers. It looks almost like scrapbook paper. So pretty!

The interfacing is stuff they normally use to make fabric bowls or boxes. I wanted this tote to stand up on its own. I also wanted a more professional look than cotton batting. Eek!

But once I finished the whole thing, I tried to straighten out the darn handle. But I sewed it with a slight twist. DANG IT! So instead of taking apart the seam and redoing it. I decided to sell it at a deeply discounted price. All the others will be at a price that reflects the time and materials that went into making them.

So stay tuned for pink and brown toile and aqua blue and brown toile fabrics. They will be up in the coming weeks! PosturingandPretense's shop this is my bohemian whimsical shop. All things frilly and ultra feminine. Its very Paris Apartment-esque. I will have a Hodge podge of items to include hair ties, trinket boxes, flower jewelry, purses, maybe some clothing, home decor. I am still listing things and between my three shops, its taking longer than I would like. But all good things come in time.

My newest treat to myself was some pretty badass makeup by Kat Von D. I have always been a HUGE fan of MAC cosmetics and love the vibrancy of their makeup. But during girl afternoon shopping trip, I saw Kat's newest eyeshadow collections:

Both palettes feature 8 shades and are so silky smooth that I put mine on with my finger tips and it felt like a cream to powder. I definitely have a new favorite eyeshadow! btw I wore the browns/bronzes from Ludwig yesterday for 4th of July. My eyeshadow stayed perfect through the whole afternoon of 100+ degrees and late into the night. I was very impressed to say the least.

Fall/Winter 2009 Steampunk Collection

I love Steampunk. Not the glue a broken watch to a setting and call it steampunk. True Steampunk is actually more intricate and well thought out. Its a mixture of industrial and Victorian. Reminiscent of something you would see on the Sci-Fi Channel. Its Avant Garde jewelry created from what someone would wear if Victorian era society had access to modern day technology.

Each designer has their own style. There are several people out there who are on the forefront of the craze. Others play it safe with some mainstream designs. Me, I like to take it a step further.

I am an avid reader and have been creating jewelry for some of my favorite characters in the books I love. My latest line was inspired by the "Merry Gentry" Series by Laurell K Hamilton.. The series features Light and Dark Sidhe or Fairies. Another big inspiration is Cheyenne McCray's "Magic Series". Her series features winged not so angelic hunky men who fight demon's from the underworld with sexy heroines by their side.

My newest line is a badge of Office for Fey Warrior's. Male and Female. Some will be dark and Macabre (Fall/Winter 2009). Others will be Light and Whimsical (Winter/Spring 2010)

I am SOOOOO excited! I have been doing a happy dance all week! I have been looking for the perfect place to move for the past few months. I wanted to move out of San Antonio and to a surrounding city that is closer to Austin. Well I hired an Apt Locator, who with great fanfare and much ado, failed with flying colors. I am SOOOOOOO not impressed with this guy. So what the heck, I will just find the place on my own. I called my good friend who lives in New Braunfels and told her I was looking, she promptly sent me several links to some really great places. I checked out them all. Finally the last place I found is just perfect. Its a block away from an elementary school, 8 miles away from my Mom, and next door to the Fire Department. So if I set the place a flame with my torch, they will be there before the whole place is ashes. Brilliant! lol I am very clumsy and do tend to make a mess of things.

The apt itself is just beautiful and its so much newer then what I have now. I can't wait. But I am moving in 3 weeks! So in light of my good mood and upcoming move, I am having a sale. Holy man! The 1st Quarter was just been insanely busy for me. With wholesale orders, my Etsy shop sucess and now it seems going into the 2nd quarter, is going to be just as busy. I am going to start selling my wares at the Haute and Fresh Country Market on N281 and Stone Oak Pkwy. The starting in June 2009. The 1st Market Day will be May 30, 2009. Unfortunately I won't be at that one, due to me relocating. I will be at the very next one in June however. The Market Days will be every 4th Saturday. So that they do not interfere with Wimberly Market, Gruene Market Days, or Boerne Market Days.

My jewelry has recently been added to Brocante, in Wimberly, TX's impressive boutique. Angels, the owner, has impeccable taste and her French/European style shop is absolutely stunning. I had the pleasure to deliver some goods in person. So I could meet her and also see her shop. It is so lovely. I am very flattered to have my jewelry represented in her store. I am also working on some exclusive designs for her. Those will be available only at her shop. I am very excited about this. The necklaces are going to be looping black wire and cameos.

Lots of exciting changes! I hope to add have more boutiques and shops to my wholesale customers by the end of summer!

Alamo City Etsy Street Team

I recently joined a 3rd Etsy Team. This one is a local Team, Alamo City Street Team. I was so excited when Carrie from Geminita contacted me and asked if I would be interested in joining a local team. She was so friendly and low key, I thought why the hell not? I would love to meet with some local Etsians and get more involved in "in person" events. Since I sell almost exclusively online, getting out into the community is on my top priority list.

Carrie is the mastermind behind the team. She wasted no time in getting things rolling and set up an Esty Shop Alamo City Etsy Shop. We had our first meeting at this really amazing gallery in King William's District, in Downtown San Antonio, El Sol Studios. The owner Ruth is such a sweetheart and really involved in the Art Community. She is a wonderful wealth of information.

Our next meeting is on May 2, 2009 at El Sol Studios. Our team has a lot of great plans and events coming up. We are working on the details of a Trunk Show. I will post more details when they are finalized.

Icarus - A Reckless Abandon Necklace

"Icarus" is the love child of one pair of realistic bird wings and my obsession with mythology.

The story of Icarus is tale of reckless abandon that results in tragedy. Icarus was the son of Daedalus, a very talented artisan. Caught up in the beauty and euphoria of flying, he flew too close to the sun. Which caused his wax wings to melt. Unfortunately he plunged to his death.

He has become a popular icon for artistic abandon. For all us who get so caught up in the moment we forget deadly perils.

Two wings are laced together with handmade brass rope. There is a limited range of movement to these wings. The whole necklace is comprised of aged brass.

The special surprise is a teeny tiny clear rhinestone on the right wing tip. A lobster clasp finishes the look.

All BellaLili jewelry comes in a rigid tin/box, with a flower adorning the top. Tissue paper wraps the box to protect the flower in transit. A "Thank you" sticker secures the tissue paper in place. All that is carefully placed in a reused bubble mailer, along with 2 business cards (1 for you to keep, and the other is for the recipient of this gift). The card has my contact info on it, in case anyone ever needs the 2 yr warranty.

So I purchased 24 Hand Made Ribbon Roses, 12 in Jet Black & 12 in Cream (Satin).

(Like my Faux Lynx Footstool? I upholstered it myself! ;D)

This was a custom order and I am very pleased with how they came out. I received the items in about 3 days after I paid for them. Shipping was incredibly fast! The packaging was great, my roses came in a cute Halloween theme cellophane bag with a note from HandmadeHorrors herself. And even though the Ribbon Roses are very durable on their own the shipping packaging was great too & quite sturdy. I even received a few extras in the form of promo items from other Dark Siders.

HandmadeHorrors was great with communicating the absolutely reasonable pricing options and the progress of the order. The Ribbon Roses were exactly as she pictured so I was not disappointed. I am sure I will be back for more roses when this batch is gone!

It was so well written. I have personally bookmarked all of the sites listed. Each of the artisan listed offer thing unique and with that handmade touch, who can resist?

Wholesale Orders, Christmas Shopping, Oh My!

The past few weeks have just been a whirlwind. I have been busy in a good way. Creating my behind off. Filling large Wholesale orders. I like being able to offer bulk discounts to folks who want to purchase gifts for friends and family members at one place. It allows me to offer them a discount and helps move my inventory all at the same time. It does make for a busy two days though. Here are some pics taken of my packaging and a wholesale order all ready to ship. Here's a few tips for you folks that sell your own jewelry when making Earring cards:

1. Make sure you print them in your desired size with the one side blank so that you can fold them over. I like to print mine in portait format with the top row blank or with a small design on the reverse side. Fold them over and voila you have a tent card for your earrings!

2. You can print them at home easily and cheaper than buying in bulk or from someone else.

3. Choose a heavy weight cardstock 60lb or thicker. Check your printer settings to see what the maximum thickness you can safely print with your printer.

4. Buy cardstock that is for a laserprinter or have at least one very smooth side. It will help keep your images detailed and clear. Paper not designed for use in a printer will result in a fuzzy finished product.

5. Keep it simple. Your business name, and website or email if you don't have a website.
Use the the least amount of colors so that you can have one card style for all your earrings.

6. Make sure if you are shipping your earrings, that the card is large enough to support the earrings. Sure you an save money buy printing more to a sheet but you will end up with disgruntled customers if the earrings arrive bend or damaged. Earrings that hang off a smaller card make become bend during shipping. I like to print 3 cards to one 8 1/2" by 11" sheet of cardstock.

Adventures in Enamel Jewelry

Alrighty so we all know that Bella Lili jewelry is always evolving and incorporating new media in my work. So the last update was to show you my ventures in Polymer Clay (Butterflies and flowers, I know very unique right? lol). Well now I stumbled upon enamel paints. I had this gorgeous scrolls, one left facing the other right facing. I was dying to use them. However they were in two different metal finishes. I can't have that! Soooo I thought hmmm I will just paint them....ok where's my paint....crap! I can't use that cheapy folk art craft paint. It will all rub off! Hmmm what to use what to use...Ah HA! (insert light bulb icon here) I will use a metal enamel paint! GENIUS! Too bad it only took me 4 months to figure that one out. Yes yes I know I am super smart! I can tell you are jealous of my mental prowess. hehe

But I digress. So I enameled some findings, which lead to more enameling which lead to the latest and greatest Queen of Air and Darkness inspired jewelry that will be posted in my shop today or tonight. (I am an avid reader and huge fan of the Merry Gentry Series)

Happily while on my enameling expedition in jewelry genius. I posted a thread offering to be a Jewelry Hussy for reviews or possible blog spots in Gothic community. Low and behold! I had a taker! Who doesn't want a free jewelry in exchange for some online or printed press. The Domestic Gothess took me up on my offer. Here is the latest installment of a featured Etsy Artist - HellsBelles. Of course it goes without saying that I am plugging him because he created a graphic for me pro-bono. I simply adore it! So I have to share his Etsy site with everyone, all two of my readers! ;).

'The Belles' would have you think they have a cadre of half-naked demon women doing this stuff. Those are just models, I do all the real work; a software engineer with a background in airbrush and 3D programming.I stopped painting by hand when I discovered what I could do with a computer. Most of my 15 years' professional experience has dealt with stereo visualization... hence the analglyphs. So what is an Analglyph anyway? Analglyph is the technobable term used by digital 3D artists to describe a red/blue stereo image. Each picture is rendered twice, from slightly different perspectives. These two images are then composited back together with one image showing red, the other showing blue. When viewed through a pair of red/blue 3D glasses the image appears to have clarity and depth. That's why I send you a few pairs when you order one of my analglyphs.Black and white images work best for analglyphs, but if you really want your analglyph in color, please let me know and I'd be happy to render it in color for you.

Mental Health Monday - A brief View

My morning thus far....

First thought after waking up is...CRAP! I am out of coffee! Dang it! So I proceed to get ready with no caffeine in my system. Eeek scary! I round up the kiddos, grab my purse, and my keys.....Wait! Um no keys. Ok no big deal. Look in the usual places. On all countertops, tables, and inside the fridge. No, no and no. Well crap on toast. My youngest had to have taken off with them. She is notorious for that. She likes to put them in her purses. Ok so I ask her after 30 min of frantic searching for my car keys.

"Baby did you touch Mommy's car keys?"

her answer is "No Mommy I know better."

Riiiiiiiiiight sure she does.
So 5 min after that she pipes up with "Mommy if you can't find your keys, I get to stay home with you? Right?"

I respond in a non-angry voice, really I was calm! "No baby, Mommy HAS to go to work so that I can make Money. If I can't find my keys, I will call a cab so we can get to work and school."

Her little face falls. "Oh, OK, Mommy."

So I continue searching for the keys for another 5 minutes. When the search leads me to another room. Empty handed I returned to my purse, because, maybe just maybe after 20 times of dumping it out. The magic key fairy will have visited and deposited my keys back where they belong. In my purse. So low and behold the magic key fairy did come. But in the form of my 4 yr old. She set then right next to my purse while I was in the other room.

So I tell her "Liliana, do not play with Mommy's keys. We will have plenty of time to stay home together in 2 weeks."

"OK, Mommy, I found them under the couch." Right.

Because I turned the couch over, I know darn well there were no stinking keys under there. If there was I would have found them along with my remote to my TV that I lost over 8 months ago. So the search was not in vain. The good thing is that after so long looking for lost keys, my mad had wore off so I was only slightly amused and not at all angry. But you can bet your ass that my purse is now going to go on the highest shelf with the biggest lock and alarm system I can find!

I am driving to work. 30 minutes late. I am behind a shiny brand new Jag, in my beat up Toyota Corolla. I bet he doesnt have to worry about job hunting during the Holidays. And man this guy just can't drive. He stops as green lights and guns it on Yellow ones. Wow. I mean you are smart enough to make a good enough living to afford a Jag. But apparently common sense was not required because you drive like a 10 year old. lol Its fun to laugh at stupid rich people. Makes me smile.

Thankfully after his last time of gunning it through an Orange light. I stop so that I do not have to be behind him any longer. I happen to look up. Because dude its a red light. I have a minute to take in the sights. lol I see one of those banners that stretch across the road way. It reads "Heirloom Appraisal" In big red letters, slight below it is reads in black "Friday, Saturday and Sunday"....keep reading.....it says in big yellow letters "Held at the Lighthouse for the Blind"....sooooooo. How exactly is the Lighthouse for the blind going to Appraise your Heirlooms? By touch? LOL Ya I bet they are REALLY accurate. LMFAO!!!! I think I will go just to see how accurate they really are. lol

Get to work and since I am out of coffee at home. I just want a cup of coffee. Mmmmm caffeine. Wait for it. Wait for it. Ya you guessed it. There was only enough left for half a cup and it was cold. Phew today is crappy. But with my twisted sense of humor. I keep laughing. I swear everyone in my office is convince that I am a loony toon. I should have called in sick today for a Mental Health Day. Not my Mental Health. But for everyone else's Mental Health. lol

Update: So TrunkT sent me a form letter "No thank you." Nothing specific. After some additional research it appears I have to try, try, try again. As well as take out my OOAK burlb in my Etsy shop. TrunkT is mainly for Wholesale connections. So stating that you only make One of a Kinds is probably working against me. I can make more than one of an item. I just choose not too. If there was a demand for it. Then I would. So I will keep trying.

So today I submitted an application to TrunkT. I choose 3 of my favorite items. I do have a dark side (hehe) and a soft side. One thing remains consistent. Both sides are decidedly feminine and whimsical. I will post results when I know if I was accepted or not. If you have any questions about techniques or what materials I use, please let me know. I am always willing to share knowledge and tips.

Here are the three items I choose to submit:

Goodness Gracious Great Skulls of Fire (they only allowed so many characters so I had to shorten the name to "Great Skulls of Fire")

This necklace is made up repurposed pieces of two separate jewelry items. One was a clip on earring, the other was a dangle earring. I have no idea how I came up with the idea. I had a table full of components and I was fitting odds and bits together like puzzle pieces to see what worked. This was what came out of that brainstorming session. I am very tickled pink with what I managed to create. I was able to make two. The first one sold within a very short time of me listing it for sale on my Etsy site.

You Drive Me Batty Hoop Earrings

The earrings are made of Brass Fingings that I chemically treated to add a lovely green patina too. The wide wingspan allowed me to sculpt them into 2 1/4" rounds perfectly! I then sealed them with a satin finish so that the color would stay true. Now they clean up with just a little soap and water! ;).

Purple Arachnid Lariat

This necklace is made up of oxided sterling with sterling wire for the body and two lovely concord grape purple freshwater pearls for the head and thorax of the Spider. I have a few items in my Arachnid line, earrings, pendants, brooches, and rings. Some have sold some are waiting patiently to be uploaded to Etsy from my stock of "to be listed items".

I used Ballet Pink Sculpey and found that if I cleaned up the finished piece with sandpaper and it worked perfectly!

Sooo...I had a brilliant idea! Well if you ask me ALL my ideas are brilliant, right up until they explode in my face, then they become an INVALUABLE lesson! ;)

I digress, I have been searching and searching for some beautiful black roses for my jewelry designs. I can't seem to find any. I have looked all over Etsy. Yes there are the resin vintage reproduction pieces out there for sale. Which is all well and good. But they are too kitchy for me. I want something that looks like a cold pressed porcelin flower.

So there I was on youtube. I LOVE youtube. I am obsessed with makeup and makeupbypriss and oxfordjasmine have the best makeup tutorials!

Ok back on track...yet again. Urgh! So I do a search on Polymer Clay, Fimo, and Sculpey....low and behold! There are some great tutorials on there. Some of them are not my style. They are the pasta machine fading look, that I don't care for much. But I did find one gem in the lot. I am sure there is more out there, but this was the first one that caught my eye and that I actually watched the whole thing! The tutorial is by Sewcrafty1. The link is below. I plan on making the roses in black and a few other pale pinks. I have an obsession with Channel pink. It is just the perfect shade of not too girly pink! I will post pictures once I have created some!

Productive Weekend

So with all the changes going on I decided I need a creative outlet. I created a total of 13 new jewelry pieces that either are currently for sale in my shop, or will be listed this coming week. I am quite proud of what I accomplished. I actually multi tasked my behind off. I was a creating fool, took my two little girls trick or treating, followed by movie night, helped my parents start to unpack and start to organize their newly built home.....and last but not least.....laundry. Which is currently the bane of my existence! With a house full of 3 women there is a never ending pile of the stuff. That either needs to be folded or washed or ironed and hung up. Eeek! I need a maid. Among a vast array of other things. Phew! Now it is time to eat a bowl of popcorn bigger than my head and sit down to a good book. Ahhhh yes that is a perfect evening for me. Early Voting In Texas! and Career Musings

So I voted today. I am a card carrying member of the Democratic Party. I mean seriously I am as liberal as they come. No one would ever think I was a Republican or Conservative.

I feel retailized now that i voted.

Hmmmm now I off to job hunt. I wonder where I can find a job that would allow me to have funky hair, outrageous accesories and make as much as I want. Besides a Hairdresser, lol. I am way too artsy fartsy to climb the corporate ladder. I feel like I constantly fighting an uphill battle. Maybe I could just win the lotto and say to hell with it all. OOOOooooohhh so is a brillant idea! Why didn't I think of it sooner? hehe

Lost in the Abyss

Well lets see...I haven't blogged in months and months. Mainly due to the fact of a contract I had in the Human Resources field. Now that is coming to a close, I find I have free time on my hands. And you know what they say about idle hands.

So I was thinking. I literally have hundreds and hundreds of books. I am running out of room to store them. So I was brainstorming on what to do with the books.

Here are just a few ideas:

Altered Art! Oh my!

I am SOOOooooo loving altered art or art nouveau style jewelry. I recently have been between contract jobs for my day job. So all that free time has allowed my creativity to run wild. I think I am a closet goth or maybe I just like the old world European style of dress. I seem to dress differently then everyone around. I wouldn't have it any other way. But I digress....so last night in my sleep deprived mind...say around midnight...I started playing with my base metal findings and odd bits. The above altered art or Gothic cross is what I came up with. I just HAD to add the red tiny rhinestones as the eyes! I wouldn't have it any other way!

A few years ago (about 3) I stumbled upon Eni Oken's website. I was enthralled by how she manipulated wire into flowing curves. Her technique is very unique. I purchased as many of her tutorials as I could. (http://www.enioken.com/) Because of her work and easy instructions, I moved away from the "crafty jewelry" that most people start with. I learned the basics from her and took off from there. I searched the web and found other great artists like Magdalena Borejko and Iza Malczyk. (check them out on etsy! They have wonderful tutorials available as well) I see alot of their work imitated almost exactly and other jewelry artisans not giving credit where is due. Which is why this lovely piece is one I am keeping for myself. It was inspired by all three of the above jewelry artisans, and I absolutely love it too much to ever part with it.

The materials I used are as follows: sterling and fine silver, garnet, freshwater pearls, lemon quarts, watermelon tourmaline, and rose quartz.

Fairy Blossom Earrings

These are my latest and greatest earrings! Continuing with my lightweight earring line I have used Lucite frosted petals and sterling silver to create these dainty beauties! The Fairy Blossom earring measure approx 1" long. Couldn't you just picture a fairy poised on the edge of these flowers? I love them! I had to make two of each. One pair to keep and one pair to sell.

Say Hello to Mina!

Mina is a necklace from my Goth line. I have an individually unique necklace based on each of the main character from Bram Stokers Dracula.

Mina is dark, sensual, classy, delicate, and vibrant. The sterling silver scroll work is reminiscent of the era in which the movie took place. The drop accentuates your cleavage, very flirty. All in the style of Mina! What fun to wear a necklace that is such an attention getter! I love dark Gothic lines!

I have used blood red dyed quartz briolette (of course!), small red round glass beads, and a lot of sterling and fine silver. The whole piece has been handcrafted by me to include the clasp. Then heavily oxidized to achieve a black look to the silver.

The finished necklace measures just under 18", the centerpiece measures just over 2" long by 1 1/8" wide.

This past weekend was the parker show. And man I picked up some spectacular gemstone beads. Of course I am selling some at a really great price in my esty shop http://bellalilioversotck.etsy.com/ . I will post some pics later when I get home. But I had to let you all know what I did this weekend. I love it when I go to the shows and I find incredible deals on stunning beads. I actually dream about jewelry when that happens! lol Hey I am very passionate about my art. I took over 200 pics and managed to make 2 sets. Only one is for sale in my http://bellalili.etsy.com/ shop. The other one I am going to keep for myself. I just adore it too much to sell it. Now i have so many lovely things I cant hardly focus on other mundane tasks! lol
